A special award of distinction from the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) – Philippine Information Agency (PIA) 6 was given to Regional Information Officer Vivian C. Tan of the Department of Public Works and Highways – Regional Office 6 for her consistent initiatives in making the programs and services of DPWH accessible to clients and her establishing of dynamic working relationship with partners and the media during a ceremony held November 27, 2015 at Roxas City, Capiz. The award was given to Ms. Tan by PCOO Undersecretary and PIA Director General Jose Mari M.

Basilan Circumferential Road Project Nearing Completion

Accelerated implementation of the Department of Public Works and Highways’ road development project in the Province of Basilan has further trimmed down to three (3) kilometers the remaining concrete paving activities for the Basilan Circumferential Road Project.

DPWH Secretary Rogelio L. Singson said that newly paved road section for Basilan Circumferential Road is now at 44 kilometers based from the latest monitoring report submitted by Project Manager Madsmo Hasim of the DPWH Saudi Fund for Development – assisted Mindanao Roads Improvement Project.

DPWH Completes Upgrading of Tarlac River Dike, Expects to Finish Bridge Widening Works Early 2015

Upgrading of the P49-M Tarlac river dike in Central Luzon is now complete.

In a report submitted to DPWH Secretary Rogelio L. Singson, DPWH District Engineer Erelina B. Santos of the Tarlac First District Engineering Office said that the upgrading/repair of the Tarlac River Dike along Ninoy Aquino Boulevard in Tarlac City has been completed while the widening of Ninoy Aquino Bridge approaches is expected for completion early next year.

DPWH Issues Guidelines for River Dredging Operations

Considering the importance of our waterways, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Rogelio L. Singson issued Department Order No. 139, Series of 2014 to set guidelines on all river dredging activities for flood-control projects and quarrying purposes.

“We have to implement our flood-control projects in a way that we can achieve positive impact and prevent damage to the environment,” said Singson.

DPWH Chief Orders Close Coordination With NCCA to Avoid Projects Affecting Historical Sites

All projects of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) that may affect historical sites or structures shall only be approved when studies are done in coordination with the National Commission of Culture and Arts (NCCA).

This was the latest instruction of DPWH Secretary Rogelio L. Singson in Department Order (DO) No. 138, Series of 2014, following NCCA’s reiteration of the public’s compliance to Republic Act 10066 or the National Cultural Heritage Act of 2009.

TPLEX Final Phase

Construction of Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX), a 88-kilometer expressway project from Tarlac City to Rosario, La Union under design, financing, construction, operation and maintenance of Private Infra Development Corporation (PIDC) of San Miguel Corporation is in full swing with 49 kilometers already operational since the first quarter of 2014 and the additional 13.72 kilometers Rosales to Urdaneta City Section currently in the finishing stages and open free of toll charges to class 1 vehicles (4 wheels) this holiday season up to January 20, 2015.

TPLEX Extends Service to Urdaneta City

Travellers bound for provinces in Northern Luzon and Cordillera Regions will find their travel time further reduced with the road service of Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX) now extended up to Urdaneta City, Pangasinan for a total expressway length of 63.02 kilometers from Tarlac City, end of SCTEX. The 13.72 kilometers Rosales to Urdaneta City Section’s completion expedited is now open this holiday season up to January 20,2015 free of toll charges to class 1 vehicles (4 wheels) due to final resurfacing works.
