15 National Roads Closed Due to Odette

As of 6:00 AM Friday, December 17, 2021, a total of 15 national road sections are impassable to all types of vehicles while four (4) sections have limited access due to Typhoon Odette which has caused flooding, soil collapse, landslide, fallen trees, and damaged bridge.

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Acting Secretary Roger G. Mercado, citing a consolidated report from the DPWH Bureau of Maintenance, said that total closures were recorded along two (2) road sections in Region 7, five (5) in Region 10, and eight road sections in Region 13.

Access to and from the southern part of Negros Occidental has become more seamless and safer with the Department of Public Works and Highways’ (DPWH) completion of a road improvement project along the Kabankalan-Bais Road.

DPWH Secretary Roger G. Mercado, citing reports from DPWH Regional Office 6 Director Lea N. Delfinado, said that the project is a preventive maintenance thru asphalt overlay along the national road’s 2.51-kilometer portion in Barangay Oringao in Kabankalan City.

Coffee and coconut farmers in the fast-growing municipality of Tagbina, Surigao del Sur now benefit from the completed portion of Jct. Highway Malixi-Manambia-Soriano Jct. Bahi By-pass Road undertaken by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
 
Funded under FY 2021, DPWH Surigao del Sur 2nd District Engineering Office implemented the construction and concreting of the 2.3-kilometer road, which is an extension of the improved road from the prior year’s allocation.

Series of inspections were held to check progress of major road maintenance and construction projects of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in the National Capital Region.

DPWH-National Capital Region Director Nomer Abel P. Canlas together with the heads of nine (9) DPWH District Engineering Offices in Metro Manila led a team to inspect the greening and improvement of center islands being done throughout the major thoroughfares in the region.
