DPWH replaces old school building in Calbayog City, Samar

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has improved the decades-old buildings of San Joaquin Central Elementary School (SJCES) in Calbayog, Samar to provide a safe and conducive learning environment for all the students.

The P18.57-million two-storey, six classroom learning facility in SJCES is part of a convergence program of DPWH with the Department of Education (DepEd), funded under the Basic Educational Facilities Fund.

P2.1B access road, to connect ports of Agusan del Norte

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is constructing an access road that will directly connect Nasipit International Port to Masao National Port Road in Agusan del Norte.

Costing P2.1 billion, the ongoing Nasipit – Buenavista – Masao Port Coastal Road project now 23 percent completed is a 5.79-kilometer road opening and 18.90-kilometer road upgrading from Nasipit Road to Butuan City - Masao Port Road, with provision of drainage, slope protection, and road safety devices.

Works are ongoing for the widening from two (2) lanes to four (4) lanes of Pola and Aribugan Bridges along Mindoro West Coast Road in the town of Sta. Cruz, Occidental Mindoro Province.

DPWH Mindoro Occidental District Engineer Josefino M. Melgar Jr. reported that the ongoing bridge widening projects located at Barangays Barahan and Poblacion I are being fast-tracked for completion by the second quarter of 2020.

Cale Bridge widening in Iloilo nearing completion

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Iloilo 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO) posted 75 percent completion rate for the widening of Cale Bridge in Barangay Naslo, Pototan, Iloilo.

DPWH Iloilo 2nd DEO District Engineer Sanny Boy O. Oropel reported that the 25.5-lineal meter Cale Bridge along Pototan-Tina-Lambunao Road presently undergoes widening from two (2) to four (4) lanes with abutment on reinforced concrete piles foundation, an asphalt overlay both on the newly constructed and existing sides, and construction of concrete and slope protection.
