The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has improved the decades-old buildings of San Joaquin Central Elementary School (SJCES) in Calbayog, Samar to provide a safe and conducive learning environment for all the students.
The P18.57-million two-storey, six classroom learning facility in SJCES is part of a convergence program of DPWH with the Department of Education (DepEd), funded under the Basic Educational Facilities Fund.

Oropel reported that the 25.5-lineal meter Cale Bridge along Pototan-Tina-Lambunao Road presently undergoes widening from two (2) to four (4) lanes with abutment on reinforced concrete piles foundation, an asphalt overlay both on the newly constructed and existing sides, and construction of concrete and slope protection.
