DPWH completes spillway bridge project to benefit residents of Southern Leyte village

A spillway bridge project was recently constructed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to help motorists and locals cross a river in Barangay Himakilo, Bontoc, Southern Leyte.

In a report to DPWH Secretary Mark Villar, DPWH Southern Leyte District Engineer Ma. Margarita Junia said that the spillway bridge was built in the amount of P1.9 million to keep floodwater under control when local drainage systems can no longer contain the water volume.

A new three-storey, quake and typhoon-resilient school building was recently completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to address classroom shortage in Pintuyan town, Southern Leyte Province.

DPWH Secretary Mark Villar said DPWH Southern Leyte District Engineer Ma. Margarita Junia reported that the additional school building which received an allocation of P32 million was built in Pintuyan National Vocational School.

New Basilan Government Center Building completed

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the P234 million government building project for the Province of Basilan in Western Mindanao.

According to Secretary Mark Villar, the new government center is a 24-meter by 48-meter building constructed inside a developed 10-hectare lot in Barangay Sta. Clara, Lamitan City.

“Through the efforts of our DPWH-9 headed by Regional Director Cayamombao D. Dia, a new Basilan Government Center opens to improve provision of service to the province’s constituents,” said Secretary Villar.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) recently commenced construction activities of two (2) big-ticket infrastructure projects in Baybay City, Leyte.

DPWH Secretary Mark Villar said the Baybay City Convention Center and Sports Complex Projects are now ongoing under the supervision of the DPWH Leyte Fifth District Engineering Office (DEO).

DPWH begins flood control works in Cagayan de Oro City

Perennial urban flooding in Cagayan de Oro City is expected to be reduced as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has started implementation of two (2) road drainage improvements in Barangay Camaman-an and Barangay Lapasan.

In his report to DPWH Secretary Mark Villar, DPWH Region 10 Director Zenaida Tan stated that works are in progress for the construction of the 1.23-kilometer new diversion drainage line in Barangay Camaman-an, Cagayan de Oro City.
