Villar: New alternate route and bridge leading to Benguet and Baguio now open to the public

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar formally inaugurated on Monday, November 26, 2018 two (2) major infrastructure projects in the province of La Union, namely, the Aringay-Tubao Alternate Road and Anduyan Bridge.

The opening of these projects will provide a better and faster road network for motorists going to Benguet and Baguio City.

The alternate road is a 14.24 kilometers road section along Aringay-Tubao, La Union which will facilitate a scenic travel to Asin Hotspring in Tuba, Benguet and Baguio City.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the emergency construction of temporary bridge to facilitate connectivity following Typhoon “Rosita” washed out the 14 meters Lunas Bridge along Junction Talubin-Barlig-Natonin-Paracelis Road in Barlig, Mountain Province.

Metal railings that will ensure safety of pedestrians and bikers are now being installed at the Leyte Road Heightening and Tide Embankment (RHTE) Project in Eastern Visayas Region.

In her report to Secretary Mark A. Villar, DPWH-VIII Director Nerie Bueno said installation works have begun at the subsection 4.2B which is part of a 7.44-kilometer RHTE Section 4 that covers Barangays 89, 90, of Tacloban City and Barangays Candahug, MacArthur Shrine, Baras, Bernard Reed Bridge, and Cogon of Palo, Leyte.
