The Department of Public Works and Highways celebrated the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) on November 25 to December 12 pursuant to Proclamation No. 1172, s. 2006 "Declaring 25 November to 12 December as the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW)" and Republic Act 10398 "Declaring 25 November of Every Year as National Consciousness Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Children,"

Online Forum on Safe Spaces Act (Bawal Bastos Law) – December 10, 2021

The Online Forum on Safe Spaces Act is focused on the salient features of the Republic Act 11313 : Safe Spaces Act (Bawal Bastos Law). Atty. Marifren C. Gacutan, Attorney III Contract and Litigation Division of the Legal Service as the resource person in the forum. She presented the various activities that are considered as gender-based sexual harassment in public spaces such as cat-calling and unwanted remarks and the penalties for committing such acts.

Online Forum on Anti-VAWC and Anti-Sexual Harassment – December 1, 2021

The Online Forum on Anti-VAWC and Anti-Sexual Harassment aims to increase awareness and serves as an education campaign to eliminate sexual harassment in the office. The DPWH GFPS invited PCOL Joy Equia Tomboc, Chief of the Anti-Violence Against Women and Children Division of the PNP Women and Children Protection Center as resource person for the particular topic

Opening of the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) – November 25, 2021

The theme for the annual 18-Day Campaign to End VAW is “VAW-Free Community Starts with Me”. Under this is the sub theme, “Filipino Marespeto; Safe Spaces Kasali Tayo” with the hashtags #FilipinoMarespeto #SafeSpacesKasaliTayo. The Filipino Marespeto highlights the positive Filipino trait of giving respect to everyone regardless of sex, age, SOGIE, ethnicity, class, physical appearance, etc. The Safe Spaces, Kasali Tayo lins the campaign back to the overall theme highlighting that creating safe spaces is everyone’s benefit in as much as it is for everyone’s responsibility.

Undersecretary Maria Catalina E. Cabral, the Undersecretary of Information Management, Planning and PPP Services and the Chairperson of the DPWH Gender and Development Focal Point System delivers an opening speech to formally commence the start of this year’s Celebration. She highlighted the participation of women in fighting against the pandemic , especially those in the frontline and acknowledged the complex role of women in a work from home setting.

 

TIBAY NI JUANA LABAN SA PANDEMYA ONLINE SEMINAR March 24, 2021

As part of our celebration of the 2021 National Women’s Month, the DPWH Gender and Development Focal Point System (DPWH-GFPS), continually values the welfare of every Juan and Juana of the Department. The seminar “Tibay ni Juana Laban sa Pandemya” aims to address the growing stress of women employees on managing work-life balance and coping up with mental stress through TRIPLE A approach by LIFE COACH Philippines through our speaker Coach Tin de Joya was attended by 40 women employees from various offices.

 

DPWH among the Top 4 Most Gender-Responsive Government Agencies named by the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW)

The Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) launched the GADtimpala 2013 (GAD Transformation and Institutionalization through Mainstreaming of Programs, Advocacies, Linkages and Actions): “Search for the Most Outstanding Gender-Responsive Government Agency” on the celebration of Women’s Month this March 2014.
