River Control Structure Safeguards Communities in Calapan, Oriental Mindoro

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has recently completed a river control structure along a portion of Bucayao River now protecting communities and agricultural fields in Barangay Managpi, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.

In his report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Regional Office IV-B Director Gerald A. Pacanan said that the project completed in Barangay Managpi involved the construction of a concrete revetment pavement aimed at controlling the water flow in the Bucayao River and lessen the flooding in the surrounding area.

DPWH Rushes to Complete Gap of Panguil Bay Bridge

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is now working on closing the gaps to complete the 3.17-kilometer Panguil Bay Bridge Project which will soon become the longest sea-crossing bridge in Mindanao.

In his report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Senior Undersecretary Emil K. Sadain said that the inter-island bridge project in Northern Mindanao is currently 90 percent completed, with only 38.75-meter gap to link the superstructure from Tangub City, Misamis Occidental to Tubod, Lanao del Norte.

Low-lying communities along the Amnay River in Barangay Pagasa, Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro are now safeguarded from flood-related risks with a newly- built flood control structure completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Based on the report of DPWH Regional Office IV-B Director Gerald A. Pacanan, the five (5) layer gabion flood control structure with bank protection in Barangay Pagasa aims at mitigating effects of flooding to the local communities, specifically to their agricultural lands, livestock, and properties.

DPWH Regional Office 3 Director Roseller A. Tolentino said that the reconstruction of damaged 608-meter section of Concepcion – La Paz Road in Barangay Paludpud, La Paz is ongoing.

P78.95-M Road Project Enhances Connectivity in Balilihan, Bohol

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has recently completed the concrete paving and improvement of an existing access road connecting the towns of Sikatuna and Balilihan in Bohol.

“With a total net length of 3.5-kilometer, the project includes portland cement concrete pavement provided with box culvert that serves as a drainage to prevent flooding during heavy rainfall in the area”, said DPWH Region VII Director Ernesto S. Gregorio Jr. in his update to Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan.
