The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has successfully completed the construction of a flood control project, aimed at mitigating flood risks and supporting agricultural productivity along the Bayating River in the Municipality of Sta. Ignacia, Tarlac.

The completed P47-million project, funded under the 2024 General Appropriations Act (GAA), covers 136.10 linear meters of slope protection, including steel sheet piles, masonry works, and a parapet wall for enhanced flood control and soil stability.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has recently completed two (2) farm-to-market roads (FMRs), significantly improving agriculture trade in the municipalities of Magsaysay and Sablayan, thus stimulating economic productivity in Occidental Mindoro.

In Barangay Purnaga, Magsaysay, a two (2)-lane 1.61-kilometer road project was completed, amounting to P19.79 million, that now provides an all-weather road, promoting more efficient and smoother delivery of farm produce to the market centers in its adjacent areas.

In a report to Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Regional Office IV-B Director Gerald A. Pacanan said that the completion of the revetment wall is a crucial measure to mitigate widespread flooding that has been displacing families and affecting the livelihood activities in the area.
