New Local Road Connects Agricultural Communities in Aparri, Cagayan

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a local road project that now benefits farmers in two (2) barangays of Aparri, Cagayan.

DPWH Cagayan 1st District Engineering Office reported the improvement of connectivity between Barangay Navagan and Barangay Binalan with the completion of a 517.97-lineal meter concrete road.

In his report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, Cagayan First District Engineer Oscar G. Gumiran said that the road project was completed in the amount of P9.78 million funded under the 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA).

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) recently completed the construction of a riverwall structure that now protects a flood-prone barangay in Gattaran, Cagayan.

In a report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Cagayan First District Engineering Office reported the newly completed 170-meter-long concrete revetment with hexapods in Barangay Casicallan.

“The flood-control project along Cagayan River is a robust defense against strong currents and high-water levels that safeguards nearby community from flooding,” said District Engineer Oscar G. Gumiran.

Mindanao Quake Leaves 5 Road Sections with Limited Access

Motorists are advised that a total of five (5) road sections in Davao Region and CARAGA Region are still closed to heavy vehicles due to safety reasons and on-going structural damage assessment from the series of strong earthquake that recently hit Northeast of Hinatuan, Surigao Del Sur and other parts of Mindanao.

Citing a report from the DPWH Bureau of Maintenance, DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan said that warning signs were installed immediately along affected sections to ensure safety of road users.

P95.5-M Flood-control Project in Malimono, Surigao del Norte Almost Complete

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is rushing works to complete its river embankment project that would prevent flooding in the low-lying Barangay of Masgad in the town of Malimono, Surigao del Norte.

DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, citing a report from the DPWH Surigao del Norte 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO), said that the ongoing project covering the construction of bank protection structures is currently 89 percent complete.
