DPWH - Biliran DEO conducts various maintenance activities

The Department of Public Works and Highways-Biliran District Engineering Office Maintenance Section, aiming to maintain a safe and passable national roads and bridges under its control, is continuously doing their scheduled activities for the month of July under the leadership of District Engineer David P. Adongay Jr.

Different maintenance activities were accomplished to address the need of the Department and the interest of the concerned people of the Province.

DPWH-Biliran DEO undertakes quality control on various infra projects

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Biliran District Engineering Office (DEO) undertakes full blast on its quality control implementation of FY 2019 regular and other infrastructures projects.

David P. Adongay Jr., District Engineer said, various activities were in lined and handled by the Quality Assurance Section (QAS) personnel headed by Engr. Reynaldo P. Peñaflor, Chief of QAS to ensure that quality will be the primary concern when it comes to the construction of projects.

P9.33M Flood Control Project in Busali, Biliran completed

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) –Biliran District Engineering Office (DEO) recently completed the construction of flood control project along Busali river in Biliran town.

The project worth P9.33M is a late release of the 2018 budget under the Local Infrastructure Program.

According to David P. Adongay Jr., District Engineer, the project was prioritized to continue the construction of flood control structure along Busali River and to minimize flood related casualties and damage to properties crops and surrounding environment.

DPWH-Biliran DEO conducts orientation to Job Order employees

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)- Biliran District Engineering Office (DEO) conducted an orientation to employees hired under contract of service on August 1, 2019 at Biliran DEO Multipurpose hall.

The orientation was addressed to all Job order (J.O) personnel of Biliran DEO from technical personnel, office staffs and maintenance field workers.

DPWH posts 72.49% accomplishment of school building projects in Biliran

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Biliran District Engineering Office (DEO) reports 72.49% accomplishment of school building projects under 2018 Department of Education Basic Educational Facilities Fund (BEFF-DepEd).

Biliran DEO implements a total of 17 school building projects worth P118.25M.

As of July 31, 2019, 10 school buildings worth P36.48M are already completed with a total of 23 classrooms.

Construction of detour across Caraycaray River in Naval underway

The construction of detour across Caraycaray River in Brgy. Caraycaray, Naval, Biliran is underway to accommodate heavy loaded vehicles.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)- Biliran District Engineering Office (DEO) reports 70% accomplishment of the said project as of July 31, 2019.

The P4.56M construction of detour across Caraycaray river involves a concrete paving of a two-lane road with length of 0.26-kilometer, a width of 6.1-meter and pavement thickness of 0.28-meter.

Active slope protection system introduced in northern Iloilo

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Iloilo 3rd District Engineering Office has adopted the use of Active Protection System (APS) for its slope protection projects in various areas in northern Iloilo.

District Engineer Flordelis C. Enriquez said they have started using the APS in the construction of road slope protection structure along Iloilo East Coast Capiz Road, Barotac Viejo section, in the amount of P40.0 million with the length of 72.0 lineal meters, which is expected to be completed in October this year.

DPWH builds farm-to-market roads in central Iloilo

Two farm-to-market roads (FMR) were constructed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Iloilo 4th District Engineering Office (DEO) in central Iloilo – one in the town of Leon and the other in Alimodian.

District Engineer Mario G. Soriano said the 1.94-kilometer farm-to-market road in Brgy. Bobon in Leon, in the amount of P17.014 million is a new road opening that connects to Brgy. Manasa in Alimodian.

DPWH paves road leading to sacred tourism spot in central Iloilo town

The sacred shrine confined in a cave in Mount Salihid in Brgy. Bungca-Suhuton, Barotac Nuevo, is becoming one of the most visited tourist destinations in the central part of Iloilo, especially during Holy Week, where multitude of devotees go for pilgrimage.

Mount. Salihid attracts tourists, hikers and pilgrims, because of the vibrant colors of green that dominate its surroundings and the lush vegetation environing the whole mountain, as well as the blazing glow of the sun that gleamed in a magnificent flourish of ribbon-like fire view from its top.
