DPWH R4A participates in the 2019 International Coastal Clean-up

Identifying the source of a problem is vital when it comes to identifying solutions and coming up with the right approach and concrete actions.

And one of the problems our country has is the increasing tons of ocean waste or trash, despite the existence of waste management laws (RA 9003, RA 9275) since 2001. Waste is a universal issue and it is contributory to all types of problems: health problem, environmental, economic, and social.

DPWH NCR chiefs holds meeting with Ease of Doing Business-Anti-Red Tape Authority (EODB-ARTA)

The DPWH National Capital Region led by Regional Director Ador G. Canlas held its meeting with the Office of the President’s Ease of Doing Business-Anti-Red Tape Authority (EODB-ARTA) during the NCR Regional Staff Conference at Club Intramuros, on August 28, 2019.

Representatives from EODB-ARTA discussed a briefing on ARTA World Bank Doing Business Report (Contracting with Government) and the Baseline Survey on Regulatory Practice in the country.

Drainage Improvement Project in Paco, Manila Almost Complete

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced the nearing completion of the drainage improvement along Antonio Isip Jr. Street, Paco, Manila since its commencement in March 2018.

In his report, DPWH NCR Director Ador G. Canlas said that the drainage project in Paco, Manila is 220 lm. long with approximately 100 lm. which was upgraded to concrete.

The South Manila District Engineering Office, which implements and monitors the completion of the project implemented the drainage improvement funded through FY 2018 GAA with a total cost of P18.985 million.

DPWH: 32-Classroom School Building in Tondo, Manila Nearing Completion

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – North Manila District Engineering Office recently announced the nearing completion of the construction of a school building for learners in Tondo, City of Manila.

According to District Engineer Gerard P. Opulencia, the four (4)-storey thirty-two (32)-classroom school building with an area of 13.50 x 95.00 meters is located at Magat Salamat Elementary with a contract cost of P 94.819 Million under DepEd’s Basic Educational Facilities Fund or BEFF 2017.

P35-M Worth of School Building Ready for Use of Students in Novaliches, Quezon City

Department of Public Works and Highways-Quezon City I District Engineering Office recently turned over the much-awaited four (4)-storey school building, with twelve (12) classrooms to Doña Rosario Elementary School in Novaliches, Quezon City.

“Implemented under the 2017 Department of Education DepEd) – Basic Education Facilities Fund (BEFF) with a total cost of P35 Million, the construction of the school building will augment classroom shortage of the school,” NCR Director Ador G. Canlas said.

DPWH Completes P60-M Road and Drainage System in Quezon City

Road users and residents of the flood prone areas along EDSA (particularly, in front of Centris Mall), Mother Ignacia Street, Panay Avenue and Scout Albano Street will worry no more as the DPWH Quezon City 2nd District Engineering Office (QCIIDEO) reported that it has recently completed the rehabilitation of the drainage system along the mentioned low-lying areas.

NCR Director Ador G. Canlas reports that the improvement includes road upgrading and widening of existing the box culvert from 1.8m to 4.0m inside width.

DPWH R4A joins National Flag Day celebration

On May 28, 2019, all head chiefs and employees of the Department of Public Works and Highways Regional Office No. IV-A (DPWH-ROIV-A) stood and marked their respect as they joined the whole nation in the observance of the National Flag Day, which will culminate on June 12, 2019 for the Philippine Independence Day.

Administrative Officer Ms. Magielyn R. Capistrano-Garcia of HRMS (Human Resource and Management Section) led the singing of the national anthem and the reading of “Pagpupugay” or the Salute to a Clean Flag Manifesto.

Cagayan Second DEO upgrades inter-regional linkage to Apayao

The 1.80-kilometer road section along Ayaga-Sta. Marcela- Flora-Lasam Road in the Municipality of Lasam, Cagayan is now fully-concreted as the Department of Public Works and Highways-Cagayan Second District Engineering Office (DPWH-CSDEO) completed its inter-regional road linkage between Region II and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) through the Province of Apayao.

The newly-upgraded road project connects the town of Lasam in Cagayan to Sta. Marcela in Apayao.
