DPWH, JICA kick-off ceremony on detailed design study of road improvement project in Bangsamoro Region

Philippines’ commitment to sustainable peace and development in the Bangsamoro Region by improving national road network that supports the foundation of people’s lives continues to gain backing from the Government of Japan.

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), a governmental agency that coordinates Official Development Assistance (ODA) for the government of Japan, will provide technical support to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in carrying out detailed design study of the Road Network Development Project in Conflict Affected Areas in Mindanao.

CDO Convention Center main building set to complete this December

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is working for the completion of the new Cagayan de Oro (CDO) Convention Center Main Building in Barangay Indahag, Cagayan de Oro City before the year ends.

DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar said the main building of CDO Convention Center implemented through a convergence project with the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) is now 94% complete and is set for completion by December 2019.

VILLAR: Alabang-Skyway Ramp now open

Department of Public Works and Secretary Mark Villar announced the opening the new, two-lane Alabang-Skyway ramp, and the reopening of a third lane at the at-grade section.

Villar, together with San Miguel Corporation (SMC) President and Chief Operating Officer Ramon S. Ang and Department of Transportation Secretary Art Tugade, opened the newly completed two-lane ramp ahead of schedule.

From December 21, 2018 to January 2, 2019, Motorist Assistance Stations manned by Motorist Assistance teams will be stationed at different locations nationwide to assist road users.

Funded under the 2018 Convergence Program of DPWH and the Department of Agriculture (DA), DPWH Biliran District Engineering Office implemented P27-million worth of road concreting of five (5) FMRs that will help in boosting agricultural productivity in the towns of Caibiran, Cabucgayan, Almeria, and Naval.

2 flood control structures rehabilitated in Samar

In its effort to strengthen infrastructure for flood risk mitigation, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) recently completed the rehabilitation of two (2) flood control structures along Gandara River in Samar.

DPWH Samar First District Engineer Alvin A. Ignacio reported to DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar that P30-million was allocated for each of the two improvements – the 225-linear meter upstream and 225-linear meter downstream flood control structures in Brgy. Ngoso, Gandara, Samar.

Biliran news agencies set up news network for heightened news delivery

A new way to heighten the information dissemination in Biliran in Region 8 is anticipated as various news agencies represented by their information officers collaborated to form the Biliran Communicators Network (BilComNet).

The network is composed of different government agencies, Government-Owned and Controlled Corporations (GOCCs), and non-government organizations (NGOs) committed to uphold BilComNet’s principles of delivering timely, accurate, and relevant news and information.
